Overview

2ND EDITION NATIONAL INTER-UNIVERSITY ADR MOOT COMPETITION

The Moot Court Forum exists to close the gap between what law students learn in the classroom and what the profession will ask of them. Through structured training, mentorship and inter-university competition, the Forum equips law students across all six of Rwanda’s law schools with oral advocacy, research, drafting, analytical legal skills, legal ethics and the confidence to advise and represent clients as we prepare a new generation of lawyers who are not only knowledgeable, but genuinely ready to practise.
Therefore, MCF convenes the 2nd Edition National Inter-University ADR Moot Competition 2027, Rwanda’s first-ever arbitration moot under the theme: “Access to Remedy Through Arbitration: Business and Human Rights in the Age of Green Finance.” For the first time, Rwandan law students will argue a realistic arbitration before experienced tribunals, tackling the intersection of business and human rights, community and environmental harm, within this fast-emerging of investment green. The impact reaches well beyond the competition itself whereby students will gain hands-on experience in exploring arbitration frameworks, arbitral advocacy, memorandum, and network with arbitrators while the country builds a home-grown pipeline of arbitration lawyers able to resolve complex commercial and human-rights disputes strengthening Rwanda’s standing as an emerging seat of arbitration and a credible, investment-ready jurisdiction.
This is an invitation to be part of that future. MCF calls on law schools, students, legal practitioners, public or private institutions and development partners to join hands in building a culture of mooting and practical legal excellence in Rwanda. Partner with us, support the next generation, and help shape a profession ready to serve because the lawyers we prepare today are the ones who will deliver justice tomorrow.
